Following Feeds
To start using the Diglet RSS reader, you must first follow some of the existing feeds, or add ones of your own into the system.
- Once logged in, click/tap on the "Dashboard" option from menu.
- From the dashboard, click/tap the "Manage Remote Feeds" button in the "Actions" section.
- On this page you will see a list of any feeds you currently follow, and a list of all the available feeds already in the system that you are able to follow.
- The available feeds are listed in the order of popularity (number of followers). You can also filter by the category using the dropdown.
- If you see a feed you would like to follow, simply click/tap the "Follow" button. It should move up to the Followed Feeds section.
- Similarly, if you no longer wish to follow a feed, you can click/tap the "Remove" button, and it will move back down to the Available Feeds section.
- You can also hit the "Preview Articles" link on any feed if you would like to review the type of content before following. Hit the back button on your browser to return after.
Adding New Feeds
If the feed you wish to follow is not already in the system. You can add your own as long as you have the URL for the source's RSS feed (See this article for help)
- Once at the Feeds page (See steps 1-3 above), click the "Add New" button under the Available Feeds section.
- You will be taken to a form where you can enter the URL for the new RSS feed.
- Once entered, click/tap the "Verify" button. This will check if it is a valid feed and whether it already exists in the system.
- If valid, you will be taken to a New Feed screen, showing the details of the feed.
- You can now choose a category for the feed from the existing choices, or choose "Other: " to enter your own
- Click/tap the "Save" button". The content from the feed will then be populated and you will automatically be added as a follower.
Managing Remote Feeds/Articles
The feeds you follow will be grouped into categories and listed in the menu. You can click/tap on any category to view all the articles from that Category. If you wish to view articles from a specific feed, click/tap the arrow to the right of the category name to expand a list of feeds within that category. Then simply click/tap on the feed name to view only articles from that feed.
Front Page
By default, articles from any feed you follow will all be mixed in and displayed on the front page. This may not be ideal for certain types of content like podcasts or comics where you want to consume them on your own time. To remove/add a feeds articles to the front page use the following steps;
- From your dashboard, click/tap the right arrow beside "Followed Feeds".
- A list of the feeds you currently follow will show up in the Items section.
- For any feed you do not wish to show up on the front page, click the circle in the "Front Page" column.
- A filled in circle indicates the articles from that feed will show up on your front page, an empty circle indicates they will not.
